Axis Intermodal Deutschland GmbH is the primary business of the Group and comprises the contract hire of Swapbodies, a type of steel freight container, in Germany and other mainland European countries.
Based in Cologne, Germany, Axis services over 10 per cent of the European swapbody market. The company has established a network of third party depots across Germany where it holds any available stock of swapbodies on an 'as required' basis. Depots are operated by approved repair service companies which provide maintenance services. Through the refurbishment of equipment, the group is able to maintain a high quality, competitively priced fleet in a cost effective manner.
Axis operates its fleet of swapbodies throughout Germany, Switzerland, France, Austria and the Benelux countries, with approximately 90 per cent of customers located in Germany. Axis now serves about 150 customers including DFDS, DHL, Gefco and the German, French and Swiss postal services.
Managing Director, Heiner Mangels leads an experienced management team at Axis, which includes Sales Manager, Jorg Vennemann and Financial Controller, Haubold Sasse.
